The exhibition WALL-BOUND consists of six large walls in three former classrooms in one wing of the building of
Martin-Luther-King Comprehensive School, which was actually supposed to be demolished and has now become the transitional home of the Skulpturenmuseum Marl for several years. But when you stand in the rooms with the wall-paintings, the temporary situation is no longer important because the designed walls attract everyone's attention. Three
female artists and three male artists from North Rhine-Westphalia who belong to broadly to one generation entered into a dialogue. Two at a time, very directly, because their walls are opposite each other, and the whole group, because they are all work non-representationally and are mostly not known as "wall painters".

The aim of the exhibition cannot be an overview of wall painting today, because the number of those invited is too low. And yet the range of positions is astounding and ranges from collaged compositions to gestural and lyrical painting. The techniques used also vary greatly – the exhibition shows possibilities that the Skulpturenmuseum in its temporary space will further try to continue in the near future.

WALL-BOUND opens on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 3 p.m. in the Skulpturenmuseum at Georg-Herwegh-Straße 63-67. After a welcome from the deputy mayor Angelika Dornebeck, museum director Georg Elben and Sebastian Freytag will give a short intriduction into the exhibition.

The artists will be present.
