Ingrid Dahn/Max Schmitz - SCULPTURES

img

Art history shows that the image of man always represents the respective worldview. The zeitgeist and the self-image of people are manifested in the figurative representation. (Max Schmitz)

The retrospective of the sculptor couple Ingrid Dahn (* 1939) and Max Schmitz (* 1936) places the human figure at the center of artistic creation. Physical proportions, geometries and mathematical rhythms are examined without ever losing sight of the immaterial interior of the human being. The exhibition is supplemented by new acquisitions by the sculptor Wilhelm Loth (1920–1993) - including numerous early cast plasters from the 1950s and 1960s - whose central artistic theme has always been the female body.
